project 03a / Normandy Trader
Normandy Trader is a former Royal Navy landing craft (LCU.Mk9) converted into a coaster.
She's operated by a shipping company based in Jersey and mainly provides connections between the ports of the Channel Islands and neighboring French ports.
Normandy Trader's main characteristics:
Displacement 241.31t
Length overall 24.60m
Moulded Beam 7m
Max draft to DWL 1.65 m
Engines 2 Volvo TAMD63P (1000-2800RPM)
Power 2x360 BHP
Propulsion 2 Schottel SPJ 57T pump jets
The model reproduces the ship in her 2013 configuration, before she underwent numerous modifications, including the addition of an upper deck above the wheelhouse and stern, which significantly altered her silhouette.
The VSF version features:
- genuine Volvo TAMD63P engine sound,
- max speed 10 knots at 2800 RPM,
- swinging cabin doors,
- animation (control+A) of the bow ramp,
- animation (Gear/G) of the loader crane HIAB 125,
- animated and retractable flag (tagged as a jib sail),
- adjusted docking points as well as anchor point,
- adjusted cargo points (8),
- azipod controls simulating the handling of pump jets,
- by default, the realistic trim when unloaded.
The compressed file includes:
- A set of cargoes to be used with the model. The files are to be placed in the "common" folder; the weight configurations are to be copied to the "manifest.txt" file also located in the "common" folder.
- Chris Johnston's version of light.dds originally provided with his "Flatbed_V2" add-on. It should be copied to the "graphics" folder [don't forget to make a backup copy of the original].
