project 06 / FDD55

FDD55 is a fictional floating dry dock designed to mimic floating dock operations allowing ship to come in the partly submerged dock and to be lifted when the dock is raised back.

Although it is possible to design vessels with ballasts (subs) for use in VSF, the feature is not appropriate for a pontoon that needs to be submerged at defined height.

The "FDD55" is a floating dry dock classified as a ship and therefore handled as a non-propelled vessel. The ballast is managed by adjusting the load.

Main characteristics:

Capacity 80,000t
Pontoon overall length 263m
Pontoon overall width 54,92m
Clear inner width between timber fenders 44,90m
Draft 5,50m
Maximum draft 17,80 m
Minimum freeboard 3,55 m
Keel boxes height 1,83m
2 wingwall rail-mounted cranes capacity 20t each
Hinged communication bridges at the bow

The model features:

- Animated cranes (ctrl+A) including workers on the main deck
- Animated communication brigdes (G)
- Lighting on the upper deck (flood lights) and the wings (under deck spots) activated by anchor light command in lights panel
- Adjusted docking points as well as hook points
- Predefined viewpoints

Before operating "FDD55" make sure that the vessel to be accommodated has the property [has_deck]=0, that the general graphic option "Hide Water in Cabin" is off, and that the weather conditions are suitable.
